Apo and The Apostles
On this promising debut record, Apo and The Apostles bring a summer festival vibe (complete with trumpet) to five upbeat, catchy tracks – two in English, two in Arabic and one in French and Armenian – reminiscent of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Of Monsters and Men (particularly on the two standout tracks guest-starring female vocalists: “Normale” and “Baji Waynak”). While the EP occasionally slips into bland, Americana-lite, Lighthouse Family territory, there’s an endearing simplicity on show here. And – despite the band’s evident musicality – a rawness, too, that gives Got No Eden an immediacy and intimacy that augurs well for the band’s future.
